This Bookish Endeavor

Reading is my number one passion in life. I am a humble book blogger and I *always* have something to say about books!

Shadow's Edge (Night Angel Trilogy #2)

Shadow's Edge - Brent Weeks I adore this series, and the world that Weeks has created. I have already stated that Kylar is hands down one of my all time favorite heroes in fiction. I loved about 90% of the story. I really only had 3 problems with the book over-all...two of the problems being minor, and one being more substantial and therefor the reason this ended up getting 4 instead of 5 stars. The minor problems: Kylar was absent for large chunks of the middle part of this book. And, while I have grown to love the enormous cast of characters in the series, his absence was very much felt by me. Also, the "monster" that is created by the villains, and the ensuing battle scenes came off as slightly silly, with an over-the-top ick factor that wasn't needed. The bigger problem: In one word: Vi. I know many fans of the series love her character, but she has annoyed me from the moment she was introduced in The Way of Shadows. What ends up happening between Vi and Kylar at the end of this book Pissed.Me.Off. It almost made me feel like everything that led up the end of the first book, was pointless. I know she is supposed to be a sympathetic character, what with everything she has been through in her life. But for someone who is supposed to be this tough, bitch on wheels...she spends an awful lot of time feeling sorry for herself, and trying to blame other people for the mistakes that SHE makes. I truly hope the bond that she now shares with Kylar will not end up taking away from the next, and final book in the trilogy.
